Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Hebrew Hero ("we," "us," "our," or "the app") collects when you use the Hebrew Hero mobile application, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over your data. Hebrew Hero is operated by an individual developer based in the United States.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide directly
- Account information — your email address and an optional display name when you sign up.
- Authentication credentials — your password is stored in hashed form by our authentication provider (Supabase). We never have access to your plaintext password.
- Support requests — if you email us, the contents of that message and your email address.
Information generated by your use of the app
- Learning progress — which lessons and quizzes you've completed, your scores, time spent in games, streaks, XP, and similar gameplay data. This is used to render your home screen, unlock content you've earned, and sync progress between devices when you sign in.
- Subscription status — if you purchase Hebrew Hero Pro, we store the fact that your account is entitled to Pro, the subscription start and expiration dates, and a reference token returned by Google Play. We do not store your payment information; that is handled by Google Play directly.
- Placement test results — your answers and tier outcome from the first-launch placement test, used to unlock the appropriate starting lessons.
- Settings preferences — your audio preferences, selected binyan, difficulty mode, and similar in-app settings.
Information collected automatically
- Device and platform information — basic information needed for the app to function on Android, such as the operating system version and the package identifier of the app installation. We do not collect device advertising identifiers.
- Google Play obfuscated account ID — when you purchase a subscription, Google Play attaches a hashed identifier to the transaction so we can verify the purchase belongs to your Hebrew Hero account on this device.
2. How we use your information
- To create and maintain your account.
- To save and sync your learning progress between your devices.
- To process and verify your subscription if you purchase Hebrew Hero Pro.
- To send transactional emails — account confirmation, password reset, and similar account-related messages.
- To respond to your support inquiries.
- To improve the app, diagnose bugs, and develop new lessons and games.
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or behavioral targeting. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
3. Third-party services we use
Hebrew Hero relies on a small number of third-party services to function. Each of them processes your data only as needed for that service to do its job:
- Supabase — hosts our authentication system and database. Your email, hashed password, learning progress, and subscription record are stored on Supabase infrastructure. See the Supabase Privacy Policy.
- Google Play Billing — processes all subscription payments. Hebrew Hero never sees your credit card or payment details. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Resend — delivers the authentication and account emails we send to you (confirmation, password reset). See the Resend Privacy Policy.
- Google Play Services — installed on your Android device by Google, used to verify your subscription status with Google Play. Subject to Google's privacy practices.
4. How long we keep your information
We retain your account information and learning progress for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all of your personal data (email, learning progress, subscription record) is removed from our systems within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain certain information longer (for example, transaction records for tax purposes).
5. Your rights and choices
You have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your account and associated data.
- Export a copy of your data.
- Withdraw consent at any time (note: doing so will mean the app cannot save your progress to the cloud, though it will continue to work locally).
To exercise any of these rights, email us at stayinthevision@gmail.com from the address associated with your account. We will respond within 30 days.
If you cancel a subscription, you can do so directly through Google Play → Subscriptions on your device. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
6. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data: encryption in transit (TLS), password hashing, and access controls on our Supabase database via Row-Level Security policies. While no system is perfectly secure, we work to keep your data safe.
7. Children's privacy
Hebrew Hero is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. International users
Hebrew Hero is operated from the United States. If you use the app from outside the United States, your information is transferred to and processed in the U.S. and other countries where our service providers operate. By using Hebrew Hero, you consent to this transfer.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. The rights described in section 5 above apply to you and are how you exercise those rights.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves or as required by law. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will additionally notify you by email or via an in-app notice the next time you open Hebrew Hero.
